Jean Paul Sutton

Managing Director

Beginning his hospitality career in 2002 helping his father run their first family café, Jean-Paul quickly taught himself the fundamentals of coffee making.

In 2006, Jean-Paul moved to Brisbane to pursue a professional career in the coffee industry, and secured a position with Veneziano Coffee Roasters to launch their new Roastery in West End.

During his time working with Veneziano Coffee Roasters, Jean-Paul immersed himself in every facet of specialty coffee including growing and processing, roasting, production, wholesale and business development. Jean-Paul quickly built his reputation to become one of the country’s leading coffee professionals by competing and judging in the Australian Barista Championships and securing a number of competition titles including 2010 Queensland Barista Champion.

Through his knowledge, Jean-Paul has proven himself to be a reliable and successful business partner for some of the country’s most successful specialty cafés and franchises.

Laura Reinert

Business Development Manager

Laura joined our team in early 2024 as a barista at our specialty espresso bar, bringing with her a clear passion for coffee, people, and high-quality service. From day one, she impressed both customers and team members alike with her professionalism, initiative, and drive to go above and beyond.

It wasn’t long before Laura’s leadership potential stood out. In a short space of time, she stepped into the role of Espresso Bar Manager, where she thrived, leading the team with confidence, refining service standards, and maintaining the welcoming atmosphere our café is known for.

Now, we’re proud to have Laura step into her newest position as our Business Development Manager. In this role, she brings her on-the-ground experience, deep understanding of our brand, and strong communication skills to help grow our network of wholesale partners, drive new opportunities, and support the long-term success of their businesses.

Laura’s ability to connect with people and her commitment to excellence have made her an invaluable part of our journey and we’re excited to see the impact she’ll make in this next chapter.

Matthew Jefferies

Warehousing and Logistics Manager

Matthew’s journey with us began long before he officially joined our team. Originally working as a barista at one of our valued wholesale partner cafés, Matthew quickly stood out for his passion for coffee, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality. His dedication and talent didn’t go unnoticed, and in August 2022, we were thrilled to welcome him into our own team as a barista at our espresso bar.

Matthew brought his passion for specialty coffee and customer service to the bar, quickly becoming a key part of the daily operations and experience we’re known for. His drive to grow and take on new challenges saw him transition into a new role and today, Matthew is our Warehouse & Logistics Manager.

In this role, he oversees everything from inventory management to coordinating logistics and ensuring the smooth delivery of our products to wholesale clients and café partners. His attention to detail, reliability, and problem-solving mindset have made a huge impact behind the scenes. 

Charlie Wassell

Barista Development Manager

Charlie started building a passion for quality coffee when his father purchased their family’s first espresso machine when he was young.

Charlie has also been keen to develop his coffee skills and knowledge by working within the hospitality industry and has quickly done so when he join the team at Sutton Coffee Co in 2017.

Since beginning with Sutton Coffee Co, Charlie’s role has progressed into Barista training, managing the skill level of every Barista who works with our coffee both in our retail outlets and wholesale partners cafes.

Heading our Barista school, Charlie ensures Sutton Coffee Co’s high standard of coffee is delivered across our café network.
